It is the fourth song from their second studio album 'Nevermind' released in 1991. The song was composed in 1989 with a slower rhythm and was originally called 'Imodium' in honor of the antidiarrheal medication used by the singer of TAD. The band had to change the title due to it being a registered trademark. The song was planned to be released on the band's second album with their record label Sub Pop; however, drummer Chad Channing left the band. Butch Vig recalls that Cobain recorded four vocal takes for the song, and each successive take worsened as Kurt's voice was fading. Kerrang described the lyrics as Cobain's gift for creating witty and purposeful nonsense.
